FAQs

WHAT KIND OF PHOTOGRAPHER ARE YOU? I am a natural light, on location photographer. I have sessions early in the morning and in the evening when the light is lovely. My goal is to provide you with natural, realistic images of your family that can be displayed in your home for years and years. My style is laid back and genuine. I do not try to make you and your family look perfect, stiff, or unnatural.

WHERE WILL MY SESSION BE HELD? I love nature and natural settings. We are lucky to have many locations nearby.

HOW LONG ARE SESSIONS? Standard sessions are typically one hour. Extended sessions are typically two hours. This includes up to 5 people – each additional person is $10. To schedule a session a payment of $50 is due at time of booking and reserves your session date. This deposit is refundable if you cancel 48 hours before your shoot. The remaining balance is due at the time of session. Travel fee: $25 if more than 25 miles from Naperville.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? If you would like suggestions on outfits and color schemes for your session just ask and I can help!

WILL I GET MY DIGITAL PHOTOS AFTER THE SHOOT? All of the packages I offer include high resolution digital files available for you to download from a personal, online gallery.  This gallery will be hosted for 2 weeks and will then be deactivated. Print orders should be placed within these 2 weeks. There is a $20 charge to re-host your gallery.

DO YOU OFFER MINI-SESSIONS? I do not offer mini sessions. Over the years I have found that the 15 minute mini session often results in posed, stiff images that lack emotion.

WHAT IF MY CHILDREN DON’T BEHAVE? I know young children don’t always cooperate on family picture day and that is OK! Children sense when parents are stressed so relax, have fun and those natural smiles will come. I have learned that being playful with kids gets the best, most natural smiles. I don’t mind being silly for your kids or encouraging you to be funny too. Parents often know just what makes their kids laugh. Pets are welcome. They are your babies too!

For children around three or four and up, I ask for a bit of space while I am taking photographs. Often a child feels the need to perform in front of a parent, and that often means un-natural smiles and expressions. I want to present to you images of your child that are natural and real. When I say “space” I usually mean a few feet, but always having your child and me within view.
